Testimonials

Randy makes one of the cleanest, most responsive flutes I have ever played since beginning my journey with the flute. I had the privilege to work along side Randy in creating the "Jonny Lipford Signature Flute" and just seeing how meticulous and precise he is in his flute making really impressed me. He is very consistent in the voicing and playability of his flutes. His flutes are among some of the best and I would recommend these flutes to anyone. They are truly top notch, performer quality flutes. Keep up the fantastic work!

I had the opportunity to have three of Randy’s creations to share with my flute circle some years ago now. I planned to keep one, an A minor, and let the other two go. One of our members fell in love with it and I could not say no. Finally after some time has gone by I have received another made just for me. It is superb! Made from holly and dressed with yellow heart and Shelly’s wonderful wraps. It is a very striking flute. What is most remarkable is how it plays! It plays like silk. The tuning is spot on and it is just hard to put down. I don’t have any better flute in my collection. Thanks to Randy and Shelly for this wonderful creation. I have endorsed very few makers to date but I am now adding them to my list.

RECORDED IN PART WITH FEATHER RIDGE FLUTES BY RANDY STENZEL

Good Morning Randy,

I am Twohawks director of the Louisiana flute Circle.
Recently I recorded and released my first album on Bluff Road Record Label.

The title of the Album is
Twohawks: Sends a Voice.

As I began the recording process I decided I needed a certain flute
that I did not have at that time in my collection. So I borrowed a flute from a
member of my Flute Circle. The Flute was a D tuning and I believe it was Alaskan
Yellow Cedar. The flute was not signed and the fellow I borrowed it from told
me it was his wife's flute and he did not know who the flute maker was and
didnt think she did either. So I completed the album and off to the presser it
went. When it was finished and ready for release my flute circle held a C/D
release party for me. During the course of this release party I had the occasion to
speak to the real owner of the flute. It was then that I discovered it was one
of your flutes that she had gotten it from you in Florida at Musical Echoes.
Obviously too late for me to be able to credit you on the album as I did with the
other flute makers whose flutes I used. I am sincerely sorry that I did not
know before the album went to the presser that it was your flute.
Anyways I cannot go back and undo what is done but I wish to send you a copy of
the album and tell you to feel free to use my name and the album as an
endorsement if you care to do so. Your flute that I used on the album was
awesome but please sign them. They are the work of a true artist.

Cant say enough about your flute and the way it performed. Here are the tracks on my CD that I used your flute, Track number 2 Silent Streams, Track number # 3 The title track Sends a Voice, Track number 4 Canyon Rains, Track number 9 Thunder Bears Morning Prayer, and Track number 13 Evening Thunder.

Meantime keep making those great sounding flutes. You are indeed one of the primo flute guys. The flute was wonderful and performed flawlessly in the studio. I played it at
length playing tracks over and over getting them correct and the flute never watered out. The sound was clean and clear and I did not want to give the flute back after the album was complete.
Good luck and hope to see you in Florida at Musical Echoes in 2006 and shake your hand.

"I have been making and collecting flutes for years, but the one I bought from you is my favorite now! It spoke to me immediately, and continues to reveal its depth. As a maker, I appreciate your machine work, but your hand-crafting is outstanding. You showed me how subtly you refine the windway, the blowing edge, and the tone holes. The effort pays off! It is louder than any NA flute I have tried, but not at the expense of beauty. It sounds fine blown softly or loud enough to echo across calm water. And the tuning! Every mode (keeping down the third finger, or fourth finger, or using the full sequence) is pleasing. This is unique in my experience. All the flutes I tried at your booth had these qualities and were priced very reasonably. I recommend them to to anyone, even to buy unseen. Keep up the good work."
